United Way of Eastern New Mexico is accepting applications for membership on the Board of Directors--should live or work in the county named for the position. The UWENM Board of Directors is responsible for setting the goals and strategies for UW activities, grants, and initiatives in Curry, Roosevelt, Quay, De Baca Counties, hiring and overseeing the Executive Director, setting the budget, championing UW throughout our community, ensuring adequate fundraising to support UW activities. Qualified applicants should: live or work in the county you will represent; value the programs, grants, and initiatives of UWENM; desire to grow UWENM effectiveness, visibility, and capacity in Curry/Roosevelt/Quay/De Baca Co.; be ready to devote energy and time to UWENM's mission to Unite Neighbors and Change Lives in Curry, Roosevelt, Quay, & De Baca counties.Time commitment is approximately 3hr-6hr per month for three year term--depending on committee membership. They are a planning council that looks at data, sets priorities and brings people together to work on selected health issues and bring in resources through a variety of methods. Everyone is welcome to be at the table to discuss their health challenges and solutions. The Council meets monthly to look at the overall picture and deal with the operations of the Council. Each month there is a resource or information presentation and an opportunity for those in attendance to share. The in-person meeting is at the Extension Office at 216 E Center Street and there is a zoom option. Meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month from 11:30 to 1:00 pm.
