Curry County is participating in the National Drug Take Back Day April 30th at the following locations: Roden Smith Pharmacy 305 E. Llano Estacado Blvd 9 am – 1 pm Walgreens Pharmacy 700 E. 21st Street 9 am – 1 pm Grady Senior Citizens Center 104 W Main St., Grady 9 am – 1 pm Melrose Medical Clinic 121 N Main St., Melrose 9 am – 1 pm With opioid overdose deaths increasing following the pandemic, the Drug Enforcement Administration announces its Annual Take Back Day scheduled for April 30th. With studies indicating a majority of misused prescription drugs come from family and friends, including from home medicine cabinets, clearing out unused medicine is essential. According to the US Drug Enforcement Administration, the non-medical use of prescription drugs ranks second only to marijuana as the most common form of drug misuse in America. The public can drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications at collection sites listed above. DEA and its partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps, and illegal drugs will not be accepted. DEA will continue to accept vaping devices and cartridges at its drop off locations provided lithium batteries are removed.
