"Great leaders are prepared for the winds of change" - Reed B Markham
Ever evolving, the winds blow across eastern New Mexico and each day is never the same. That is how it goes in day to day living and in the ever changing world of volunteerism. Each day brings new challenges, not only for the organizations but also for the volunteers.
As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to make a difference and make a change in our communities. Sometimes you may not feel that you have anything to offer as a volunteer but it is surprising how many folks have a hidden talent or a skill that would be a huge benefit to a local organization.
It's not just physical labor that is needed, it can be anything from answering phones, helping with paperwork, prepping for a meeting or presentation, organizing an event, graphic design, fixing a meal for staff as a show of appreciation or to help them through a rough patch, reaching out to other donors and volunteers and thanking them for all they do, running errands, cleaning the office, offering a listening ear and so much more.
Take a minute to think about how you can help out a local organization and reach out to them to offer your assistance. By volunteering, you make a difference and help others out as well. Volunteering offers a tiny step forward in being on the winds of change and leading others to follow in your footsteps.
